Drake, why are we still waiting for the Nocta x Nike Hot Step Air Terras collaboration?

It was at the end of 2020 that Drake and Nike announced their collaborative label, Nocta, which the Canadian rapper said would produce clothing and sneakers inspired by street style from London, Toronto and Paris. So far there have been two drops including logo puffer jackets, Gore-Tex parkas, fleece track bottoms and heat-tech hoodies. Unfortunately, none of the sneakers promised by the “Laugh Now Cry Later” artist have been released yet.

Since December 2020, Drizzy has teased four pairs of sneakers, both IRL and on Instagram, each taking the form of a new mid-top Nike silhouette. The Nike Hot Step Air Terra Sneaker is a chunky design that’s no different from the Air Max 97 and features an exposed Air bubble in the heel, reflective piping on the perforated leather upper, metallic Swooshes at the toe cap and sky blue Nocta branding on the insoles.

The kicks also resemble shoes you’ll find on basketball courts, which should come as no surprise considering that Drake and his OVO brand have previously created sneakers with Nike’s Air Jordan division.

Color-wise, we also know what to expect. We saw photos of Drake in a white and chrome pair of the new sneaks, a blacked out version and a snakeskin version. The rapper also took to Instagram yesterday to share an image of himself sporting a never-before-seen black and orange style.

Although no release date has been announced by Drake or Nike, it was recently rumored in the Twittersphere that the quartet of Drake-designed sneakers will be released on January 27th. But as this date has passed, we are losing hope on the next fall of the shoes.

Drake has also since posted a 27-second campaign video to his Instagram, which was shot in Jamaica and offers another on-foot look at the black version. Interestingly, a Nike team member commented on the brand’s official account post saying “better late than never”.
