“Breathtaking,” he says of the days there that consisted of “buying vintage at a cool boutique in the morning, then going for a hike, then having a meeting after hanging out at the Nike campus pool” — a style lifestyle that mixes work with training, mirroring Jacquemus’ own routine in Paris. (“I didn’t go to the pool today, and I didn’t hike,” he confesses when we speak on Zoom, “but I do a lot of exercise every morning before coming to the studio.”)

Even two years of working remotely — in addition to having a puppy, Toutou, and getting engaged to longtime partner, French communications manager Marco Maestri (the two are planning a wedding in August) — haven’t couldn’t slow Jacquemus’ rolling, as the ideas began to flow immediately. Jacquemus, an avid collector of Nike’s ACG (All Conditions Gear) line, wanted to bring this feature to his own womenswear obsessions, such as “late ’90s lace miniskirts, Lady Di’s sporty looks and the DNA of tennis”.

“I wanted to do something super lightweight,” he says. And There you go: The feminine pieces in neutral tones of this new collection combine the simplicity and ease of Jacquemus with the technical prowess of Nike. Grab a pair of pearly white bike shorts – seemingly as wearable as they come, until you realize they’re made without seams, from Nike’s specially designed knit. That backless dress? He promises to work as hard at the gym as he does at the club. “Super light, yet super sensual,” Jacquemus says of the heart of his collection. “It was my first idea.”
