For some, shoes are things you wear on your feet to move from place to place. For others, it’s a way of life. Sneakersheads take sneakers very seriously, and when a large corporation pays an unofficial, unbranded tribute to a popular cultural phenomenon, their soles itch to be a part of it.
Actually, I don’t know if that last part is true, but I do know that Kotaku reports that Nike is releasing three new pairs of shoes that unofficially honor The Empire Strikes Back, the second Star wars 1980 film. Adidas technically has the Star wars licensed, but apparently Nike will create a new line of shoes with colors reminiscent of a property, let fans name them and just run with them. For example, fans named these upcoming shoes the “Boba Fett” because of their “Carbon Green / Black-Ghost-Pollen” coloring:
Then there is the “Darth Vader”, all in black but with a silver stripe at the bottom:
And finally, there is the “Bossk”, named after one of the bounty hunters that Vader sent in. Empire:
You’re playing with fire, Nike.
When are the Nike Star wars the shoes come out?
All of these shoes are slated for release in November.
