The redesigned Nike store shines in the Emerald City
July 30, 2015
“Sports is part of the heart and soul of Seattle. Whether they’re cheering on local football, baseball or soccer teams, playing intramural sports or training for an upcoming race, Seattleians love their teams and strive to achieve their personal athletic goals,” said Dennis van Oossanen, vice president of Nike North. America direct to consumer. “Nike Seattle has been redesigned with this active and energetic community in mind, with the goal of providing them with our most innovative products and personalized services.”
Located at Sixth Avenue and Pike Street, the store incorporates unique design elements including a custom neon sculpture celebrating sports icons and a number of the city’s cultural symbols. Additionally, Seattle’s 12th Man – his fans – is honored with an art installation signed by Seattle Seahawks players. Visiting Nike athletes will be invited to add to the display.
Nike Seattle’s retail offerings are equally diverse. They feature running and athletic apparel products for men and women, as well as men’s Jordan and basketball shoes and apparel. The store also offers premium services including shopping analysis, bra fitting, trouser hemming and personal styling. Additionally, Nike Seattle enables seamless shopping in-store and on Nike.com through a single mobile transaction.
To celebrate the opening of Nike Seattle, retired NFL quarterback and former Seattle Seahawk Warren Moon answered questions from local YMCA patrons and youth. Other Nike athletes will be making in-store appearances throughout opening weekend (July 31-August 2).
Nike Seattle also presents Home Run NRC on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., an addendum to the existing Wednesday Night Nike + Run Club at nearby Nike University Village. The first NRC Home Run, led by Nike Master Run Coach Blue Benadum and Nike track and field athlete Phoebe Wright, features a three- and five-mile course along Alki Beach, with water taxi service to and since the race.
