Rapper Travis Scott has released a new pair of sneakers in collaboration with Nike which sold out online within 24 hours, reported CNN. According to Scott’s Twitter account, they shouldn’t be posted. in store until February 29.
That didn’t stop a robber in North Carolina, cops say.
Someone made with three pairs Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low sneakers worth $2,400 each in an armed robbery on Tuesday, according to the Asheville Police Department.
âAn employee closing the store reported that it was robbed at gunpoint by a man wearing black clothing and a mask,â police said in a statement. “Officers established a perimeter and used a K9 to attempt to track the suspect, but were unsuccessful.”
The sneakers were taken at Sole82 â an âexclusive sneaker shop and kick shopâ in Asheville, according to its website.
Scott announced on Twitter that shoes from Nike’s skateboard line would be available exclusively via its website beginning February 22, where they sold for $150 a pair.
According to SneakerNews.com, the release “sent the sneaker world in a frenzyâ and were quickly sold out. Scott is expected to send a “winning email” to a few lucky customers later this week, but the sneaker website reported that “the pair will no doubt be hard to track down.”
Some shoe and skate shops are ready to sell them in stores from Saturday â including at least 10 locations in North Carolinaaccording to SneakerNews.com.
But the Nike SB Dunk Lows were already selling out in sneaker markets such as StockX for $1,200 a pair by Wednesday.
Law enforcement responded to the Asheville store around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
